Community Sensitive Solutions ApproachThe Community Sensitive Solutions process involves working with project stakeholders to develop a solution that meets Waukesha County's transportation needs and also addresses the community's goals of economic growth, pedestrian friendly and safety for all users. The recommendations identified through the CSS process will be incorporated into the design solutions the technical team will be developing. The County used this process successfully on the County L project in Muskego. The goal of the Community Sensitive Solutions approach is to assist the study team in providing information, and developing potential improvement options for the long-planned bypass. In addition, the advisory committee is to provide the study team with in-process review of various improvement concepts. Last, advisory committee members are to serve as information conduits to the remainder of the project's affected or interested stakeholders; to pass along information regarding the various alternatives, seek input/comment, and to provide for additional opportunities for access to the study team. Advisory CommitteeTo engage a representative cross-section of key project-area stakeholders in the planning, development, and rollout of Waukesha County's study of the West Waukesha Bypass an advisory committee of about 20 stakeholders has been formed. Members represent the communities and review agencies involved, including: abutting landowners (residential and commercial), city, town and county officials, WisDOT, Wisconsin DNR, Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC), community groups and employers.
